Dunesi popping up in the land of the midnight sun

Whilst it’s likely that you’ve heard of the Hamptons, the exquisite playground of the rich and famous only a 40 minute helicopter ride from New York (for which one of us does not have a helipad on their roof?), you may not have heard of its close namesake Hanko, a seaside town less than a two hour drive from Finland’s capital, Helsinki.

During the blazing summer of 2018, Hanko clocked in around 900 hours of sunshine on its 30 kilometres of sandy beaches. It is hard to imagine a more perfect spot than this southernmost point in Finland to enjoy the midnight sun that people from all over the world travel to experience.

When Dunesi was asked to exclusively stock their range of clothing in Hanko’s Summer Pop Up Shop, Hanko Beach Shop, Dunesi’s Finnish founder Hanne Ripsaluoma was all ears. With Hanko’s Hamptons style clientele that favours long boho dresses and chic beach to bar outfits, Hanne knew that this partnership was a match made in fashion heaven. And so it was that within months Dunesi’s range of unique, ethical fashion found its way to this haven of natural  seaside beauty. 

Hanko Beach Shop is located centrally at Vuorikatu 10 (Hanko's main shopping street), and it is open most days during the summer. Having stocked up on your summer essentials, spend an unforgettable day at the sea on a boat tour or stroll around the marina watching the sailing yachts go by and stop for a coffee in one of the many amazing seaside cafes. Or if beaches are more your thing, then do like the locals do and pick a beach according to the direction of the wind.
